shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).
In a large skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned.
Add flour to the skillet and stir until well combined.
Gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
Season with salt and pepper.
Cut the biscuits into bite-sized pieces and spread them on the bottom of the baking dish.
Pour the sausage gravy over the biscuits.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs. Pour over the gravy mixture.
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
You can use any type of breakfast sausage you like, such as pork, turkey, or chicken.
If you don’t have biscuits, you can use bread, rolls, or even croissants.
You can also add other ingredients to the casserole, such as chopped vegetables, herbs, or spices.
