Miriam Don-Baadom
Deliciously crispy on the outside, custardy on the inside - it's french toast made easy on the stovetop. Such a quick and tasty breakfast treat.

½
teaspoon

for cooking
Instructions
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon and salt until fully combined.
Pour the egg mixture into a shallow dish or pie plate.
Dunk the bread slices into the egg mixture one at a time, soaking each side for 10-15 seconds.
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon butter or oil and swirl to coat.
Working in batches if needed, cook the soaked bread slices for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
Add more butter or oil between batches as needed.
Serve french toast hot with desired toppings like syrup, fruit, nuts, etc.
Notes
Use thicker breads like brioche, challah or french bread for best results.
Dunk bread well in egg mixture, but don't let it get too soggy.
Use a wide flat spatula to easily flip the french toast.
Keep cooked pieces warm on a plate in the oven at 200°F until ready to serve.
